Love and Loss
Daegna’ar is wholly consumed by the preparations of the northbound expedition of the Dead Steppes. He gathered several hundreds of augmented Faomori warriors and bionically-enhanced Kenshi Corp. supersoldiers at the portal to Infernum. He felt that this was the moment where there was no turning back, and something monumental would be waiting for them on the other side of this campaign. And by them, it meant Daegna’ar and Eireen.
As the last orders are given out and briefing has been wrapping up, the doors to the departure chamber unlocked, and Eireen walked in. Her face was crooked in a grimace of self-aware horrifying madness, and her eyes were seeping blood. She was visibly in pain, but she did not make a single sound. Eireen walked over to the secondary rift station and keyed in the access code combination, looking around the chamber at the prepped scientists, packed soldiers, and armored Daegna’ar, stopping with her gaze at his eyes, looking deep into them, ripping open a new rift and then stepped into the portal, closing it behind her.
The chamber stood silent, you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was deeply shocked by what they’d just seen. Daegna’ar remained still, like a statue of bronze. His mind was occupied with Eireen, everything else faded away. The need for revenge, the unrelenting hatred of the Old Gods, the Infernum campaign. Nothing mattered much anymore. Thousands of years of wishing his revenge to become a reality. All of it. Daegna’ar did not know about whatever happened to Eireen, he felt everything that was going on inside her. For the first time in ages, he felt alive, yet mortal, even weak. This passing feeling made him snap back to reality, where war had to be waged, and everything he have ever wanted was becoming a reality, no matter how distorted it has become.
